As a hairstylist of nearly 20 years (OMG, can’t believe I’m typing that number!) I’ve seen a lot of different hair fads come and go. I always hated hair extensions before because they never blended and they did a lot of damage to the natural hair so I wouldn’t even consider offering this service to clients.

Even when I took my first certification for NBR Extensions nearly 4 years ago, I was so excited but still skeptical. I wanted to wear them myself for a bit and try them out on several “case studies” or models not only to continue to work on the technique but to also make sure that they caused minimal damage and make sure that they were comfortable even for my tender-headed self. As someone who suffers migraines occasionally, I wondered if NBR was even realistic for me to wear myself. I thought I would at least try them out for a few months, so I could understand how they felt in the hair and how to care for them on a daily basis so I would be able to relate with my clients that would have them. Little did I know that I would become completely and totally obsessed! For the record, I have been wearing hand tied extensions non-stop for nearly 4 years. During that time, I’ve added several certifications with NBR Extensions as well as certification in Invisible Bead Extensions as well! Kaity is also certified in NBR Extensions and Darrian is certified in Invisible Bead Extensions. (Color and Extensions are our main focus at Amie & Co.)

Something that I didn’t expect was how well the extensions hold curl/texture. I shampoo and style my hair less. Which means my natural hair gets a break from constant heat styling. The fact that most days my hair routine simply involves brushing my hair and using a little product blows my mind. Ponytails and buns look amazing with the added fullness from my extensions. All in all, it’s been a total time-saver. My clients can attest to the fact that these extensions are ridiculously addictive!

As women, our hair is the crown that we never take off. When we don’t feel good about our hair, it’s hard to feel very good about our overall appearance in general. To see the boosted self-confidence that happens as a result of these hair transformations and how that spills over into other areas of life has been such a blessing! It’s so much more than just hair.
